Nintendo expects the switch to have a longer life cycle than former consoles - Nintendo Switch - Video Peel Mailing, Instructions, Exemplary procedures, reviews and culture

The company believes that there are "many different ways to think about future console development."

Nintendo consoles usually have very short life cycles on the market, which usually last five to six years, as an active console, before the successor is added. In March, the switch will enter its fourth year's year. Under normal circumstances, this would mean that he is always closer to the end of his active life, which may not be the case.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa recently said in a question of question (translation via VGC) that the Japanese company consider the switch as "a different kind of console", which is due to its hybrid character (as well as the recently released Switch Lite) at the end of a longer Lifespan have as previous consoles that the company has published.

"The Nintendo Switch will be in the trade soon for three years," said Furukawa. "We believe it is a different kind of console than the ones we have published before.

"In addition to the flagship switch model, we have also published the Nintendo Switch Lite, which can only be played as a handheld. In this way, the user can choose a console that matches its lifestyle. "

Furukawa added that Nintendo has been thinking about "many different ways thinking about future console development," but focused in the here and now to ensure that the installation base of the switch continues to grow - which is primarily planning publications primarily through new software.

"Software is also very important," he said. "So we have to concentrate on it while the installation base for Nintendo Switch continues to grow.

"When we focus on the Nintendo Switch, we can achieve a completely different (longer) hardware life cycle than earlier Nintendo consoles."

In view of the fact that the switch has already delivered over 52 million units worldwide and no signs of a slowdown, it is not surprising that Nintendo believes that there is a lot of life in the console. In fact, Furukawa said during the questions and answers that Nintendo does not expect the Switch sales to slow down the PS5 and Xbox Series X publications.

Recently, Nintendo also confirms that 2020 no new switch versions are published. More here.
