Only yesterday Sony Interactive Entertainment with PlayStation Productions confirmed the founding of a new studio, which is intended to transform well-known PlayStation brands into movies and series. Instead of producing film and serial content by means of licenses of external production companies, you want to keep control of the content completely yourself. In the meantime, Sony has also named a first PlayStation franchise as part of an investor conference, which is to be processed as one of the first. These are Twisted Metal.
Twisted Metal as a TV series
Like the Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra, only in the investor conference confirmed that a TV series is based on the Twisted Metal series in development. More information has not been revealed yet. The series created by David Jaffe has received its last offshoot in 2012 on the PS3.
Twisted Metal is an action-rich vehicle combat racer with a pretty gloomy humor. It is less a traditional racing game, but more about a kind of vehicle fighting arena, in which different vehicles with different weapons fight against each other. The series killer Sweet Tooth is likely to be one of the most famous figures from the series.
How exactly the TV series takes the game template remains to be seen. According to the announcement of PlayStation Productions one does not want to bring the games in film form, but rather creates something independent.

As a head of the Sony Interactive Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden also has the say about PlayStation Productions. He stressed in the context of the announcement:

The real challenge is how 80 hours gameplay should be packed in a movie? The answer is: That does not work. Instead, you take the ethos and writes in specifically for the movie audience. You do not try to tell the game in a movie again. _

The former Twisted Metal and God of War Creator David Jaffe has given on Twitter to understand that he has great interest in the planned Twistet Metal -TV series. As he gave to understand, he has let Sony know that he would be available for advice, help, services or cooperation.
